A LARGE CAST IRON SINGING BOWL WITH A MALLET ON WOOD STAND

China, cast inscription, dated 22nd year of the Guangxu period (1896)
D. 40,5 cm, H. 30,5 cm (o.S.)
Heavy and thick-walled bowl, outer wall in relief decorated with three wide borders: upper area inscribed with the temple name "Gu Jing Zhong Jiao Si" in a rectangular cartouche, the donors' names, the foundry "Lao Shun De" and the date of donation "third month of the 22nd year of the Guangxu period [1896]"; middle area with surrounding floral ornaments; in the lower part lotus leaves. Partial remains of red lacquer. Round waisted wooden stand later.
